Lakers Officially Make Rob Pelinka GM and Vice President of Basketball Operations
By Karl Rasmussen
The Los Angeles Lakers seem to like what they have going for them in the front office. After Magic Johnson's stunning departure from the organization last year, Rob Pelinka has assumed more responsibility for the franchise.
Well, he's being promoted as such, having earned the title of both GM and Vice President of Basketball Operations.
This move shouldn't come as a major surprise given the Lakers' success in 2019-20. The team currently sits atop the Western Conference with a 30-7 record and looks set for a deep run in the NBA Playoffs.
Pelinka not only acquired Anthony Davis from the Pelicans this offseason, but he also managed to craft a roster capable of supporting the star tandem of Davis and LeBron James.
Signings such as Dwight Howard and Danny Green have been integral in LA's early-season success, and the Lakers have now rewarded Pelinka for his work in the offseason.
The Lakers are confident in the team's future with Pelinka in both the GM and VP of Basketball Operations roles, and he'll look to further maximize the winning potential in LA.
