Lakers Projected Starting Lineup Following Anthony Davis Trade

The Los Angeles Lakers mortgaged their future to acquire Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis, sending three first-round picks as well as young pieces like Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram to New Orleans. While the future of the Lakers remains cloudy, this team is built to win for the next three years, provided they can woo another big free agent. With The Brow soon to be in LA, the 2019-20 Lakers are going to look just a little bit different to the G League lineup we saw last year. Here's what it might look like.

5. PG: Kemba Walker

Walker, who has already stated that he is willing to take less than the supermax to win in Charlotte, could easily jump at the opportunity to join the new favorites in the Western Conference. An A+ ball handler, shooter, and distributor, who scored 25.6 points per game last season, Walker will provide the Kyrie Irving-like yin in the backcourt to the yang that is LeBron James and AD down low. That is IF the Lakers sign him.

4. SG: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

While KCP is technically a free agent, the Klutch Sports client will likely be back in LA next year given his relationship with LeBron James and the fact that the Lakers need shooting in the worst way. For a Lakers team who ranked 29th in 3-point percentage, Caldwell-Pope would be a perfect role player for this team who can stroke it from deep and play some excellent perimeter defense.

3. SF: LeBron James

Reports of LeBron's demise have been greatly exaggerated, as 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.3 assists on 51 percent shooting during your age-33 season isn't exactly terrible. James will be his usual, amazing self in 2019, provided that the coaching staff doesn't try to fix what isn't broken and his groin stays in tact for the entire season.

2. PF: Kyle Kuzma

Washington Wizards v Los Angeles Lakers

While Kuzma might have a lower ceiling than Ball and Ingram, he has the highest floor of that trio and requires the least amount of maintenance. A mature, do-it-all forward who scored 18.7 points per game in his second year in the league despite being square in the middle of an unmitigated disaster, Kuzma has shown the ability to integrate with LeBron's style of play without sacrificing production.

1. C: Anthony Davis

It's impossible to understate just how massive an upgrade Davis is over 2018-19 starting center JaVale McGee. Still arguably the best big man in the game, Davis' game changing dominance on the defensive end paired with his remarkably refined offensive game should make the Lakers the favorites in the West. With The Brow in town, the Showtime Lakers are back.
