Reggie Jackson Buyout Signing Would Be Huge Opportunity for the Lakers
A few years ago, Reggie Jackson was considered a promising up-and-comer in the NBA. However, a myriad of injuries and lack of development has made Jackson into a good-not-great-point guard option. And with the young talent Detroit has, getting rid of Jackson and his suboptimal contract via buyout would help the team save money and open playing time for their promising prospects.
In come the Los Angeles Lakers. They only have two real ball handlers on their team in Rajon Rondo and LeBron James, and Rondo at times can be a nightmare to have on the floor. If Jackson is available on the buyout market, they should consider him seriously.
With Darren Collison not considering an emergence from retirement, the Lakers need another point guard who can run the offense and can shoot a few three-pointers off the bench. Jackson would be the perfect player for that role, setting up Danny Green and Co., and not needing to take too much of an offensive burden himself.
Furthermore, the Lakers can offer Jackson more money than many other teams (like the rival Clippers), which theoretically would be important for the potential free agent.
Th Lakers would be the perfect destination for Jackson. If he gets bought out, the Lakers need to get busy.
