Lakers Reportedly Sign Dion Waiters for Remainder of NBA Season
By Michael Luciano
The Los Angeles Lakers were in need of adding another guard after waiving Troy Daniels, and they opted for an experienced shooter with a propensity to chuck it from anywhere.
The Lakers signed former Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters for the rest of the season, which is a bit on the surprising side.
Waiters was drafted fourth overall in 2012 by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he was traded to Oklahoma City after his propensity to let it fly no matter where he was in the court helped him fall out of favor. He has spent his last four seasons with the Heat, but he quickly rubbed Erik Spoelstra the wrong way.
Waiters was suspended by the Heat after just three games this season following his panic attack on a team place that was caused by an overconsumption of THC-laced edibles. He was suspended again for calling in sick on his birthday and later posting a picture of him on a boat on Instagram. He was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in the Andre Iguodala deal, and was later waived.
Waiters might be a handful to deal with, but if he is willing to accept an end of the bench role, the Lakers could use his shooting to great effect.
