Desperate teams to desperate things to remain relevant, but the Los Angeles Lakers might be taking things a little too far in regards to their reported offseason free agent targets.

It came to light over the weekend that LA could be interested in bringing over Derrick Favors from Utah, Bradley Beal from Washington, and Kyle Lowry from Toronto. While a potential deal for Beal would complement LeBron James' style of play well, what on Earth is the purpose of acquiring Lowry and Favors?

Sure, Pelicans general manger David Griffin has been playing hardball on the Anthony Davis front, but are the Lakers really willing to stoop this low? Unfortunately, we all know the answer to that question.

All LBJ needs is just a few additional pieces and Los Angeles would be in a position for a deep playoff run. But what does the franchise do? Reportedly target a 33-year-old point guard who self-destructs in postseason and an oft-injured big man who hasn't averaged more than 15 points per game since 2015.

In an offseason that has epitomized discombobulation and is somehow only just getting started, these reports just add gasoline to the fire and prove that the Laker franchise is destined for losing and incompetence for years to come.
