Lakers to Reportedly Work Out Dion Waiters Monday for Open Roster Spot

The Los Angeles Lakers suddenly have a roster spot to fill, and are looking far and wide for help before the end of the season.
The latest player to receive a tryout is reportedly Dion Waiters, who will get a workout on Monday, after much speculation about whether the team would simply keep the spot open in case of injury.
The Los Angeles Lakers will work out free agent guard Dion Waiters on Monday, sources tell me and @wojespn. Waiters has career averages of 13.2 points and 2.8 assists in Cleveland, OKC and Miami. LAL opened up a roster spot by waiving guard Troy Daniels on Sunday.

Waiters began the season with the Miami Heat before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in February. He was then waived and is now available, having played very little basketball this season.
The guard signing with the Lakers would create a reunion between Waiters and King James, though neither has exceptionally fond memories of their time spent together. Both spent a few months in Cleveland before Waiters was traded to Oklahoma City following James' return. However, the Lakers appear to be weighing all their options instead of rushing to get a deal done with Waiters.
As Vogel told reporters, Lakers have no imminent plans to add another player. They still plans to meet w/ Dion Waiters, per source, but now Lakers can react should an injury occur, or perhaps add another ballhandling guard/playmaker later. Rob Pelinka plans to take his time.

Los Angeles remains atop the Western Conference standings and has that open roster spot to add a specific need before the postseason. Waiters' name can be added to the list of potential players to fill that final spot. He sure would be one of the more fun options to join the Lakers. The thought of him shooting deep threes while LeBron stands open next to him is enough to have plenty of NBA fans interested in the reunion.
