Lance McCullers Gets Into it With Astros Troll in Comments of Post About Donation to Houston Food Bank
By Scott Rogust
The Houston Astros dominated the headlines for the better part of the 2020 calendar year due to being proven guilty of using electronics to steal signs during the 2017 season. However, the hatred towards them took a backseat this past week for much more important matters: the coronavirus pandemic.
Many are focused on the potential damage this unknown disease can cause, forcing schools to close and in turn, preventing children from receiving much-needed meals. Astros third baseman Alex Bregman took the initiative by donating 1,000 quarantine meal kits to the Houston Food Bank.
On Sunday, Astros pitcher Lance McCullers decided to follow his teammate by donating 10,000 meals to Houston-area students. However, his Instagram post was bombarded by an Astros troll, causing McCullers to lose it in the comments section.
McCullers was driven over the edge, as he went after the New York Yankees in his tirade, while telling the troll to get off of his page. In fact, McCullers was so irritated that he blocked the troll altogether, which they proudly displayed in the above tweet.
There's a time and a place to troll the Astros, and this wasn't one of them. McCullers, Bregman and George Springer are using their platform for good during this trying time around the world. Students are forced to take classes online, while many employees at stadiums are out of a job due to the mass suspension of sports leagues.
The coronavirus outbreak is a scary situation that requires everyone to get on the same page and help each other, with the main goal of trying to stop the spread. If you happen to be an "Astros hater," place that vitriol aside and use that energy to help beat this virus.
