Bob Stoops Announces Landry Jones Will Make First Start Sunday for XFL Dallas Renegades

Former NFL backup QB Landry Jones did not receive much playing time during his years in the league, but during his college days, he aired it out under Bob Stoops at the University of Oklahoma. Now, after suffering an injury in training camp, things have come full circle in the XFL for the Dallas Renegades.
Stoops, the Renegades' head coach, announced Thursday that Jones will be making his XFL debut as starter this coming Sunday against the Los Angeles Wildcats.

As it turns out, some NFL teams were actually interested in the 30 year old Jones after he committed to the XFL. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Jones' own former team, inquired about him all the way back in September, looking to pick up another QB due to the injury of longtime starter Ben Rothlisberger.
Apparently, Jones did not even know about this, and found out through the media just a few days ago.

Perhaps a spirited run in the revived XFL will renew some NFL interest, but first thing's first: Jones was a prolific passer under Stoops in college as a Sooner, and will have his chance to rekindle some magic starting Sunday.
