Lane Johnson's Latest Take on Carson Wentz Should Have Eagles Fans Excited for 2019
By Will Fowler
As if the idea of Carson Wentz entering the 2019 on a healthy note wasn't enough to get the Eagles fan base rowdy, here's something that will undoubtedly put the Philly faithful over the edge: veteran offensive tackle Lane Johnson raving about the QB's relentless commitment to his craft.
"Every day when I go in the building, all I see is him in there before everyone else rehabbing,” Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson said on NFL Network. “I just think he’s really on a different mental state than he’s ever been as far as training and ignoring distractions and really trying to be the best player he is... I just see that worker and a guy who is about to do some big things this season.”
When Wentz is healthy, he's one of the best quarterbacks in football. Despite a 5-6 record last year, he posted 21 touchdowns compared to 7 interceptions and notched over 3,000 yards in just 11 games.
With Johnson's recent comments, there is no reason to believe that Wentz won't come back from his latest injury even stronger. Although the quarterback has shown to be prone to injury, especially as seasons wear on, Wentz has the ability to take the Eagles back to the promised land. There's no reason to believe he won't have them in legitimate contention for the NFC East and beyond in 2019.
