Lane Kiffin Reportedly Interested in Vacant Florida State Coaching Job
By Chris Pyo
Lane Kiffin managed to keep himself relevant after his tumultuous stints with Tennessee and USC, and now he may just land another major coaching gig.
Florida State is actively searching for a new head coach after finally parting ways with Willie Taggart following a disastrous stint in Tallahassee. Well, according to reports, Kiffin is interested in replacing Taggart at the helm for Florida State.
Kiffin's been coaching at Florida Atlantic University for the past three seasons and has revitalized the program, well, sort of. After leading the team to a 11-3 record and a bowl game victory in his first year, the team fell to 5-7 last year. They've rebounded in 2019, going 6-3 in the C-USA thus far.
Still, Kiffin will certainly be in consideration to make the move to Tallahassee, though he would likely come with a hefty price tag, and considering the absurd amount that Florida State is paying Willie Taggart after his buyout, they may be looking for less expensive alternatives.
Still there will be various other names thrown around in regards to the vacancy, including Matt Campbell over at Iowa State and LSU's quarterback whisperer, Joe Brady.
College football could use a wild partnership like Kiffin in Tallahassee, and it's up to FSU's board to make it happen. Just imagine Kiffin on the sidelines, coaching the Seminoles back to relevancy in the ACC while 100,000 fans do the tomahawk chop.
