Raiders' Latest Las Vegas Stadium Update is an Actual Positive Thing for Fans to Cling to
By Scott Rogust
The Las Vegas Raiders haven't had the greatest year in terms of smoothly transitioning from the Bay Area to their new home. The brand new Allegiant Stadium in Sin City appeared to have fallen behind schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic, with no clear path forward in uncertain times. Today, however, that's no longer the case.
According to Jeremy Aguero, a stadium board consultant, revealed that the Allegiant Stadium "is on time and on budget."
Wow, some actual good news!
Project officials announced earlier that Allegiant Stadium has entered the "fourth phase" of the construction process and is estimated to be completed by July 31.
This is welcoming news, especially considering that the opening of the stadium was expected to be delayed due to the coronavirus. There was a COVID-19 outbreak that struck seven construction workers back in late April; three days after that report, the new case total increased to 16. The belief was that work on Allegiant would be delayed if the number of cases continued to trend upwards, but that luckily hasn't happened.
The Raiders are expected to debut in their new home on August 27 in a preseason matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Additionally, the UNLV college football team is expected to play six of their seven home games at Allegiant this season. That will all have to happen without fans, however, due to the need for social distancing.
Fans of no fans, Allegiant Stadium is going to open on schedule, which is the news Raiders fans needed to hear during these trying times.
