Latest Details Make it Seem Like Carlos Beltran and Mets Definitely Didn't 'Mutually Part Ways'
By Karl Rasmussen
Carlos Beltran's tenure as manager of the New York Mets is over before it even began as a result of his involvement in stealing signs during his time with the Houston Astros.
After being named in MLB's investigation, Beltran and the Mets mutually agreed to part ways ... or so they say.
Beltran's latest reported comments suggest he may not have been so receptive to his ousting from the organization, though he ultimately accepted his fate.
Prior to "stepping down," Beltran reportedly insisted to the Mets that he could "handle the heat," in an effort to maintain his role as manager, per David Lennon.
Ultimately, the Mets weren't comfortable with the potential distraction Beltran could represent, so they decided to cut ties with the 42-year-old.
Despite publicly calling the incident a mutual agreement, it certainly seems that Beltran wishes he were given the opportunity to remain at the helm and manage the team while navigating through the PR nightmare. The Mets, on the other hand, seemed to think that was too tall a task to handle.
