Latest Jake Fromm NFL Comparison is Just Completely Disrespectful
By Michael Luciano
As the NFL Draft creeps ever closer, the wildest comparisons and most unusual rumors continue to crop up. Even an experienced, accurate SEC starter like former Georgia QB Jake Fromm can't escape them.
The NFL loves comparing prospects to established pro players, and Fromm's comparison is disrespectful to his college body of work, as some NFL talent evaluators likened him to Detroit Lions quarterback Chase Daniel, who has been a career backup.
Let's slow down on the Fromm hate train for just a second here.
His arm strength and athleticism might not blow you away, but this a guy who is accurate to all levels of the field, has three productive years of experience starting in the SEC, and has bene impressing teams in interviews. To compare him to a guy in Daniel who could never hold down a QB1 job just because Fromm can't throw the ball 200 miles an hour like Justin Herbert and Jacob Eason is a bit unfair to him.
If you're expecting Fromm to start on Day 1, you are going to be severely let down. By the same token, those who are dismissing Fromm as a Daniel clone and a late Day 3 pick are totally missing the mark. Fromm is a perfect Day 2 guy that should handle backup duty in Year 1, but could start in Year 2.
