Latest Report on Ezekiel Elliott's Contract Negotiations Will Encourage Cowboys Fans

Ezekiel Elliott has yet to report to Cowboys training camp amid contract extension negotiations and an extended holdout trip to Cabo, but the latest report could be a turning point.
Per Josina Anderson, the two parties are, at the very least, working towards a monstrous agreement.

This positive tone contradicts recent comments made by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who said a rushing champion isn't needed to win a title. While that may be true, it's not the most encouraging thing to put out in the public when there are whispers of Zeke possibly becoming the highest paid RB in the league.
Elliott currently has a $7.9 million cap hit on Dallas' books and is due for a $9-million base salary next year. Todd Gurley is currently the NFL's highest-paid running back at about $14.4 million per year with the Rams, but this rumored deal seems set to surpass him in some capacity.

Elliott is a two-time rushing champion and will continue to be an integral part of the Cowboys' offense, if an extension does get agreed upon. Things are looking up for Cowboys fans, but nothing is official until Elliott shows up to practice with the team.
