Latest Reported Cowboys Offer to Dak Prescott Should Clearly Work for Him

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott remain at a stalemate in contract negotiations, and little has changed in the months since they placed the franchise tag on the former Mississippi State star.

The first sign that a deal could be in the works has finally come to light, as the Cowboys have reportedly offered the soon-to-be 27-year-old fresh off almost throwing for 5,000 yards a five-year, $175 million contract.

$35 million per year has been right around Dak's asking price, and giving him this contract would make him the highest-paid quarterback in football on a per-year basis. One crazy rumor, however, has suggested that Prescott wants to back-load his contract to the degree where he would make $45 million in the final year of his deal, which could complicate this deal.

Backloaded or not, the Cowboys seem to be recognizing what Dak means to this football team, and agreeing to a deal at $35 million per year seems to be what will eventually happen.

If we know anything about Jerry Jones, it's the fact that he is willing to write a big enough check if it means that the Cowboys will get back to the Super Bowl. The latest Prescott contract negotiations show that Dak might be close to signing a deal after months of waiting.
