Latest Update on Texans WR Kenny Stills Proves Houston Already Lost Trade With Dolphins
By Thomas Carannante
The Houston Texans have kept us entertained this offseason with some wild headlines, most notably surrounding the wild trades involving DeAndre Hopkins and Brandin Cooks, as well as the head-scratching signing of Randall Cobb.
Well, underneath it all, we may have overlooked the other players who could be affected by these moves. Apparently, wideout Kenny Stills, who the Texans acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins last year, is the "odd man out" in Houston.
Just how Bill O'Brien drew it up. Trade two first-round picks, a second-round pick and two players to Miami for Stills, Laremy Tunsil, a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick. We already knew this was a loss for the Texans, but my goodness. To already lose an asset from that monumental trade is bad business, plain and simple. If the Texans are truly done with Stills, this trade was pretty much just for Tunsil.

While Tunsil is among the best left tackles in the game, giving up this much for him (on top of having to make him one of the highest-paid players in the NFL) is yet another example of how not to make trades. Oh, we forgot to mention Stills has a $7 million cap hit in 2020 before hitting free agency in 2021! Who is going to take that contract after you barely got him the ball last year?!
Stills' debut season with the Texans featured 13 games (five starts) in which he hauled in 40 passes for 561 yards and four touchdowns. While that's nothing special, for the Texans to think that production will be lapped by guys like Randall Cobb, the never-healthy Will Fuller and Keke Coutee is laughable.
This is an L within an L for the Texans.
