Latest Vegas Odds for NBA Finals Favorites Prove Free Agency is Going to Be Absolutely Wild
By Michael Luciano
It's a good time to be a basketball fan in Los Angeles, as both the Lakers and Clippers have legit shots at the Finals following the decimation of the Warriors and what is expected to be a very active free agency period for both teams.
In Caesars Sportsbook's first 2020 NBA championship odds, both LA teams have the two best chances at taking home the Larry O'Brien Trophy, with the Lakers leading the pack at 4-1 and the Clippers coming in right behind at 6-1. The reigning champion Raptors clock in at 8-1, while what's left of Golden State has 10-1 odds.
One surprising find in these odds is the absence of both New York teams, who were predicted to be active players in the hunt for virtually every big free agent. Maybe Vegas knows something we don't?
Then again, Vegas could just be trolling us, as even Lakers fans aren't buying their newfound status as the favorites.
While lighting money on fire is a better investment than taking the Jazz at 20-1 odds, the rest of these seem pretty tame and accurate when one considers what the landscape of the NBA is going to look like in 2019-20.
Buckle up and get ready for a wild offseason.
