Leafs Should Make a Move for Knights' Colin Miller

Everyone can agree that the Toronto Maple Leafs are stacked offensively. With the likes of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and John Tavares, scoring has never been a problem for the Leafs. Yet after another first round exit at the hands of the Bruins, improvements have to be made, and the Leafs should start by adding defenseman Colin Miller.

Miller spent the first two years of his career in Boston before being taken in the expansion draft by Vegas. Miller is under contract through 2022, but the Golden Knights have interest in parting ways with the big defenseman, and the Leafs have the need and the means to acquire him.

At 6-foot-1 and 196 pounds, Miller has a bomb from the point and has been used on the power play throughout his career. He had 29 points ( 3 goals, 26 assists) in 65 games this past season with an even rating, averaging nearly 20 minutes a game. On top of that, Miller is only 26, which means he can be a capable defender for a while still.

Leafs fans are on board with the Colin Miller acquisition, and they should be, as adding the defender will give Toronto's back end a much needed upgrade. Perhaps they can have a deeper run through the postseason next year if they bulk up their defense.
