LeBron James Tweets Support for Lisa Leslie After Her Interview With Gayle King About Kobe Bryant
By Sean Facey
In the wake of Kobe Bryant's tragic death, some people saw fit to bring up the sexual assault allegations from 2003 against the former Los Angeles Lakers legend. One of those people was Gayle King, who asked WNBA icon Lisa Leslie, a close friend of Bryant's, if the charges complicated his legacy.
Leslie defended Bryant and his character, saying "It's not complicated for me at all," and current Lakers superstar LeBron James showed support for her over Twitter.
"You're a real Superhero!! Sorry you had to [go] through that s*%$!!" said James. He also added "#Mamba4Life" to the end of his tweet.
Leslie's comments certainly weren't received well by everybody. Her stout defense of Bryant's character from her own personal knowledge of who he was as a person didn't seem satisfactory to some of his detractors.
But she did bring up a good point about how the mourning process is still ongoing, especially for the Bryant family, and that this isn't necessarily the right discussion to be having.
It's a hotly contested debate that most definitely isn't black and white. Plenty of Bryant's friends will come to his defense as long as this continues to be talked about.
