Legendary Goalie Roberto Luongo Announces NHL Retirement With Funny Tweet
By Will Fowler

Longtime Canucks and Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo officially announced his retirement from the National Hockey League on Wednesday, ending an impressive 19-year career that saw him make six All-Star games and win two Olympic gold medals with Canada.
And the announcement wasn't without some spice-- he made his proclamation rather quietly at first by posting one seemingly nonchalant photo to his Twitter account.

This is funny stuff from Luongo, whose announcement was, of course, a spinoff of LeBron's "The Decision" from 2010 which he said he was taking his talents to South Beach. The goaltender, of course, has spent a considerable amount of time in Miami as a pro.
Luongo had a long, proud career. He never won a Stanley Cup, but he won the Jennings Trophy in 2011, built a career off of durability and consistency, and notched 489 career wins (third all-time), a .919 save percentage (10th), and 28,409 saves (second).

Luongo is someone whom hockey fans will miss seeing on the ice, and we wish him all the best in his retirement. He seems to be enjoying himself already.
