LeSean McCoy has surely delivered an impressive NFL career. Headlined by prolific numbers with the Bills and Eagles, McCoy cemented himself as one of the league's very best rushers. But should that result in a spot in the Hall of Fame?

Well, McCoy certainly thinks so, or at least thought so. In a now-removed Instagram post, McCoy thanked many who helped him reach this point in his career, including one final note. "HOF on the way when I SAY I'm Done:"

Let's take a look at McCoy's career and how that statement holds up.

A six-time Pro Bowler and the NFL's leading rusher of the past decade with over 10,000 yards on the ground, McCoy has put up some remarkable numbers, including multiple 1,000 yard seasons and even 17 touchdowns in a single year. Very few would deny McCoy's statistical successes.

However, does this decade dominance equal a Hall of Fame career? Well, for one thing, McCoy is largely absent from the postseason. His four appearances ended as soon as they came, and only ring was when he was on the sidelines.

Additionally, McCoy's career has been on a bit of a downturn these past couple seasons. After dominating the league until 2018, his production was cut in half the following year and he is yet to recover. He is no Frank Gore, for example.

On paper, McCoy's career could be a Hall of Fame one. However, the rapid down spiral and lost potential say otherwise. McCoy had the chance to become one of the game's greatest running backs, but that simply has not been the case.

Instead, McCoy will likely be remembered as a dominant back who failed to reach the next tier, but perhaps he can change that fate. At the age of 31, McCoy may have a few more years left in the tank to prove us wrong.
