2018 was a difficult year for the Buffalo Bills. They went 6-10 on the season, and their trip to the playoffs the year before began to feel like a fluke for Sean McDermott and company. Among the many challenging things Bills fans had to witness that year was the surprise retirement of cornerback Vontae Davis, who left in the middle of a game. That particular twist of the 2018 knife was baffling to say the least, and now, some of Davis's former teammates in Tre'Davious White and LeSean McCoy are opening up about how strange the whole situation was.

At the time, Davis dramatically claimed the physical toll was too great to handle, but White's account of the events are far more casual. The idea of a multi-millionaire athlete deciding to hang up their cleats after ten years of commitment mid-game is absurd, but apparently that's how it all went down.

White has a history of hilarious behavior and quotes, but this Instagram live roasting of one of the most depressing moments in the McDermott era is probably the most cathartic thing he's done.

Davis's reasons for retiring were valid and personal, but doing it in the middle of a game they were losing always felt like a reflection on the Bills' performance. The Bills have since improved, but NFL fans will never forget that Davis bailed during halftime.
