Leury Garcia Adds Option to Contract and Signs New Deal With White Sox
By Michael Luciano

Leury Garcia was once a routine subject of mockery for his offensive ineptitude, but a solid 2019 season has him back in the good graces of Chicago White Sox fans.
The White Sox rewarded their expert utility man's improvement by signing him to a new contract that includes a $3.5 million option for the 2021 season.
In addition to Bummer extension, Sox announced Leury Garcia’s contract now has an option for 2021. He’ll make $3.5 million in 2020, as opposed to the $3.25 million he was set to make. The 2021 option is also $3.5 million.

This comes on the same day Chicago signed reliable lefty reliever Aaron Bummer to a five-year contract.
Garcia hit .279 with eight home runs, 40 RBI, and 15 stolen bases in '19. In an offseason where the White Sox went all in on getting power at nearly every position, Garcia is a nice change of pace, as he can fill several different positions on defense while hitting at a respectable clip.
GOOD BYE BASEBALL!

Garcia is never going to be some sort of offensive juggernaut, but he's the kind of guy that always seems to appear on teams who go far in the postseason. Whenever you need a fill-in at pretty much any position that will provide solid contact and plus defense, Garcia can answer the call.
