Lions CB Darius Slay to Honor Deceased Infant Son of Marvin Jones With Pro Bowl Cleats
By Brendan Balsamo

On Dec. 27, Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones disclosed the fact that his infant son, Marlo, passed away at only six months old.
This happened when the Lions' season was already over, so Darius Slay, Lions cornerback, decided to honor Marvin and Marlo the only way he knew how: through football. Slay, the Lions' lone Pro Bowl starter, decorated the cleats he will use in the game in their honor.
I talked to Darius Slay (@_bigplayslay23) about his decision to honor @MarvinJonesJr's family with his cleats for the Pro Bowl Sunday. Jones' infant son Marlo passed away in December. "It's a blessing that he'd let me do that," Slay said. https://t.co/2EV5L86byO

Slay had two interceptions and 13 pass defenses this season, while racking up 46 tackles and a fumble recovery. The 2020 Pro Bowl will be Slay's third in a row.
Meanwhile, Marvin Jones caught nine touchdowns on 62 receptions in 13 games, but was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 10 with an ankle injury. Less than three weeks later, the wide receiver announced the passing of his son via a heartfelt Instagram post.

This is an awesome gesture from Slay, as he shows support for his teammate at a time when it's needed most.
