Lions CB Quandre Diggs Savages Melvin Gordon After He Tried to Troll Lions Kicker
By Sean Facey
Los Angeles Chargers star running back Melvin Gordon, who's in the midst of a holdout, tried to troll Lions kicker Matt Prater on Twitter after he struggled early against Gordon's squad.
But Chargers kicker Ty Long missed two field goals late to allow Detroit to pull away with a 13-10 win, and it was cornerback Quandre Diggs who ended up getting the last laugh on social media.
Just pure savagery. Gordon probably learned that it's best not to dish out trash talk so freely and easily, especially so early in a contest.
Of course, it also would have helped the Chargers to have Gordon out of the backfield. The two-time Pro Bowler has managed at least 1,300 yards from scrimmage in each of his last four seasons and has been a vital member of their offense.
If Gordon had been an option on offense, perhaps the Chargers could have turned to him to finish off their drives rather than asking Ty Long to try and kick those two field goals.
Perhaps Gordon's trash-talking on Sunday will expedite what now seems to be an inevitable trade as he continues to search for a contract extension that the Chargers aren't willing to give him.
