The Detroit Lions have released RB Zach Zenner after re-signing him last year. The move comes as teams adjust their rosters and gear up for the regular season next week.

Zenner spent four NFL seasons with Detroit and finds himself on the open market for the first time since going undrafted in 2015.

Zenner's accumulated nearly 700 rushing yards in his career thus far, and went for 265 and three touchdowns last season. The 27-year-old was in the Top 50 for rushing yards per game with 33.1.

Teams that could use a backup RB like the Chiefs, Falcons or Jets could get a capable veteran in Zenner. Having started only six of his 36 NFL games, he's best-suited as a spark off the bench.

Zenner was a fan favorite in Detroit, and can likely get another fanbase behind him in whatever city he lands next. An undrafted player that carves out a decent career for himself is a narrative any sports fan can get behind.
