Lions' Update on Star Center Frank Ragnow's Ankle is Extremely Encouraging
By Ryan Giglio
The Lions fell to 0-3 after taking a loss to the Bills during their preseason clash on Friday. Detroit's biggest loss didn't show up on the scoreboard, however, as the team feared they had lost standout center Frank Ragnow to injury.
Ragnow went down with what appeared to be a gruesome ankle injury in the preseason clash, leaving fans and the team expecting the worst.
Well, Ian Rapoport reports that Ragnow was diagnosed with a minor ankle sprain, avoiding what could have been a potentially career-altering injury.
This is a blessing for the Lions, who figure to utilize Ragnow in a high volume in 2019. Rather than miss an extended period of time, and possibly the whole season, it looks like the center will only be on the shelf a short while.
No concrete timetable for his return has been provided, but any short amount of time on the sideline is better than what most fans were expecting.
A first-round pick in the 2018 draft, Ragnow played almost every snap for Detroit last season and was a bright spot for the team.
Losing the second-year star to a serious injury would have been worst case scenario for the Lions, so the team and its fans can breathe a heavy sigh of relief.
