Little Leaguers Pay Tribute to Cubs' Craig Kimbrel With Perfect Impersonation During 9th Inning
By Ryan Giglio
Chicago Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel may have one of the most iconic stances on the mound in baseball history and it's safe to say young ballplayers love it.
Little Leaguers sitting behind home plate during Sunday Night Baseball's Little League Classic between the Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates paid tribute to the veteran by impersonating him in the best way.
Kimbrel was trying to secure the win for the Cubs and had a row of young fans giving him some motivation to close it out.
Despite the support from the Little Leaguers, Kimbrel only pitched 2/3 of an inning while allowing a homer to Starling Marte.
Sunday's game generated other great moments between players and the kids, but the kids' passion for baseball was evident in their imitation of one of the best closers in history.
The smiles on their faces shows how much funs they were having at the Classic. Teams across the sport are struggling getting fans to the ballpark and earning the interest of the younger audience, but events like Sunday's are great for expanding the game and creating new lifelong baseball fans.
