New York Jets fans went almost a whole week without New York Daily News writer Manish Mehta infuriating them, but Mehta might have jumped the gun on a potential Logan Ryan signing.

Mehta recently wrote the Jets were expecting to land the former Tennessee Titans cornerback, but Ryan himself said on Good Morning Football that he is still "open for business" and jabbed Mehta for reporting on where he was going before he himself knew.

Ryan added that the Jets and Miami Dolphins are both kicking the tires on him.

Ryan recorded 113 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and four interceptions on a Titans team that ended the New England Patriots dynasty and coasted to the AFC Championship last season. While he was targeted more and gave up more yards than any other corner in the league, he had one of the lowest completion percentages allowed from the slot in all of football, and that makes him worth bringing in.

Ryan is a perfect fit for the Jets, as they need a No. 1 cornerback who works in Gregg Williams' defense, but Mehta might have jeopardized the deal due to his hasty reporting.

The Jets have a major hole at cornerback. Ryan is a New Jersey native and Rutgers alum coming off of the most productive season of his career. If they let Ryan slip through their fingers, Jets fans will turn on Mehta for jinxing things.
