Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram Reportedly Back to Full Participation at Pelicans Camp
By Scott Rogust
The New Orleans Pelicans received a massive haul of players and picks from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for star Anthony Davis. Now, two of those key players are expected to be ready for the start of the upcoming season despite some earlier injury concerns.
According to ESPN's Andrew Lopez, point guard Lonzo Ball and forward Brandon Ingram have been full participants in the Pelicans' voluntary offseason workouts so far this week.
Both Ball and Ingram were dealing with ailments that knocked them out for significant portions of the 2018-19 season with the Lakers.
Ingram suffered from deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, causing him to be shutdown in early March. As for Ball, the former second overall pick in 2017 suffered an ankle sprain on Jan. 19, causing him to miss the final 35 games of the campaign.
Last season, Ball averaged 9.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 5.3 rebounds in 47 games. Ingram tallied an average of 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 52 games.
The New Orleans Pelicans enter the 2019-20 season with plenty of hype. They won the NBA Draft Lottery and selected Duke superstar Zion Williamson, and surrounded him with plenty of quality talent. Lonzo and Ingram will play pivotal roles for the Pelicans, and look to be a go for the start of the regular season.
