You can't reach the top of the college football mountain without battling some late adversity, which is exactly what the No. 1 LSU Tigers are dealing with right now. Star running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire went down with a hamstring injury in practice last week on a non-contact play, placing his status for the College Football Playoff in doubt.

While fans hit the panic button, the injury doesn't appear to be as serious as originally thought. The good news? Head coach Ed Orgeron said on Monday there's still a chance his playmaker can suit up to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in this weekend's national semifinal.

While Coach O's words won't instill a ton of confidence into Tigers Nation the running back is likely play, it looks as if though he's improving with each day. Hamstring injuries can be tricky for running backs, but Edwards-Helaire hasn't been ruled out yet.

Taking on the Sooners in the Playoff will be no easy task for the Bayou Bengals. They need to be firing on all cylinders if they want to come out on top. Not having Edwards-Helaire on the gridiron will obviously have a negative impact for the offense and newly-crowned Heisman winner Joe Burrow.

The speedster will look to be a game-time decision for Saturday's massive showdown. This decision sure could come down to the wire.
