VIDEO: We Can't Believe LSU's Will Wade Still Has a Job After Damning Audio Surfaces
By Michael Luciano
HBO's newest college basketball documentary, "The Scheme," tells the story of Christian Dawkins, the man at the center of the bribery scandal that helped schools like LSU and Arizona land top recruits by enticing them with cash payments. One of the coaches who has frequently been connected to this scandal is LSU head coach Will Wade, who was suspended, although later reinstated, for his involvement in this potentially career-changing series of events. Wade might be out of a job after this audio clip, in which he discussed paying a recruit a major cash sum, makes the rounds on social media.
Wade claims that he can compensate a player thinking of skipping college and declaring for the NBA Draft more than the G League can, even asserting he can pay them more than the rookie minimum.
Wade also bemoans the fact that the player in question, who is a "two to three-year kid" in his own words, rejected his "f***ing strong offer" because it was "tilted towards the family." Wade also claims he made deals with players of a similar ilk that were "a lot simpler than this."
It looks like we finally have our smoking gun. Now that this bombshell is out, Wade likely doesn't have long left in Baton Rouge.
If LSU decides to respond while the entire world is locked down, we don't see how this fails to blow the door off of the basketball program and cost Wade his job.
