LSU LB Michael Divinity No Longer With Team Ahead of Big Matchup Against Alabama
By Andy Loughmiller
We are less than a week away from the game of the year in college football. No.1 LSU will take on No. 2 Alabama this Saturday for what should be an incredible game. The Tigers finally have an offense capable of being competitive against the Crimson Tide, but their defense will be without one of their starters.
LSU's starting outside linebacker Michael Divinity has left the team due to personal reasons. Divinity leads the Tigers in sacks despite only playing in five of their eight games this season.
Divinity has been a tremendous edge player for LSU in 2019. His absence could have a big impact on the defense's ability to put pressure on Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in their upcoming matchup.
The Tigers will need their reserves to step up this weekend. Head coach Ed Orgeron and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda will have to find a way to contain what is arguably the most explosive offense in the country without one of their best pass rushers.
LSU has played three games this season without Divinity, so the team has experience in that department. However, Alabama's offense is unlike anything they've seen up to this point in the year.
The hardest game on LSU's schedule just got even tougher. Fortunately, the strength of their team is on the offensive side of the ball this season. If Joe Burrow continues to light it up at quarterback for the Tigers, then LSU will have a chance to knock off the undefeated Crimson Tide and remain the No. 1-ranked team in the country.
