LSU Grants Iconic No. 7 Jersey to Superstar WR Ja'Marr Chase for 2020 Season
By Michael Luciano

The No. 7 jersey at LSU has traditionally been handed down to the best player on any given Tigers team, and the budding star that will don it for the 2020 season has been chosen.
Head coach Ed Orgeron confirmed that wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase will switch from the No. 1 he wore last season to No. 7 in 2020.
Ja’Marr Chase, the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner and SEC record holder for receiving yards and touchdowns, will wear No. 7 for the Tigers!

There wasn't much doubt over who would be named as the recipient of No. 7 this season.
Chase was named the best receiver in the country last season when he won the Biletnikoff Award last season. With 84 catches for 1,780 yards and a totally absurd 20 touchdown receptions, Chase is projected to be the first receiver taken in the 2021 draft.
Other stars that have worn the No. 7 include cornerback Patrick Peterson, safety Tyrann Mathieu, running back Leonard Fournette, and 2019 No. 7 wearer Grant Delpit, who is projected to be a first round pick in the 2020 NFL draft as a safety.

Chase is clearly the best returning player on an LSU team that was decimated by the NFL Draft, and he was far and away the favorite to don the fabled No. 7 jersey.
