Luis Severino Reintroduced Himself as an Ace in Game 3 in Case Anyone Forgot

After nearly a full season away from the spotlight, a frothing-at-the-mouth Luis Severino was a sight for sore eyes in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Minnesota Twins, as he tossed four shutout innings and struck out four, helping the New York Yankees finish off a sweep.

Need to get the job done? It's not a bad thing to have Sevy empty the tank in Game 3.

Severino was by no means the most dominant we've ever seen him, but unlike postseasons past, the Yankee right-hander battled and was able to get out of jams unlike the spiraling, damage-filled outings of postseasons past.

The first sign of Severino being that ace on the mound came in the second inning, as he loaded the bases with nobody out, and from there was able to record a pop up followed by two strikeouts.

Two runners were able to reach in the third inning, but again, Severino was able to strike out Mitch Garver swinging, leading to another Severino scream, his fastball showing increased velocity when it mattered most.

If his pitch count wasn't at 83 and he hadn't missed most of the regular season due to injury, Severino would've likely gone back out, and with the way he was throwing, he would've likely shut the Twins down again.

Severino isn't at the level of Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg, right now, but in case anyone forgot, Sevy is a force to be reckoned with. Remember, the last we'd seen of him in October, he was forgetting the start time of Game 3 of the ALDS against Boston, acting as a shell of himself on then mound and in the aftermath.

No longer.

This is the weapon in the rotation New York needs, and it's shaping up to be an iconic October for the Yankee starter.
