Luis Severino Sent Back to New York for Testing After Being Examined by Doctor on Friday

Luis Severino's 2020 has gotten off to an equally bad start as his nearly-lost 2019, as the 26-year-old is on the mend once again with elbow and arm injuries.
Severino, slated to serve as the No. 2 starter behind Gerrit Cole, was sent to New York for a battery of tests on his elbow, as the Yankees are taking every precaution with the health of their young stud starter, following a meeting with Dr. Christopher Ahmad on Friday morning.
Combining his postseason and regular season numbers, Severino made just five starts last season, though he didn't give up more than two runs in any single start, showing that he's still lethal and nearly unhittable when he's healthy and in command of his breaking ball.
The Severino news comes after it was announced that James Paxton was also ruled out for a chunk of the regular season with another injury that will sideline him for a few months. The black cats are running around Tampa, it seems.
The Yankees were counting on Severino to take the ball every fifth day and mow down the opponent's lineup. Instead, thanks to some plain old bad luck, the Yankees could be destined for another season of bi-weekly injury updates and guessing on when the Dominican flamethrower will be healthy enough to pitch.
