Luke Voit Has Awesome Response to Gerrit Cole About Sharing No. 45 Jersey

If you ever happen to be at a picnic with Yankees first baseman Luke Voit, don't expect him to share any of his salt and vinegar chips with you.
In the wake of the team's signing of Gerrit Cole to the largest pitching contract in MLB history, Voit has already taken to Twitter to let Cole know he's not interesting in trading jersey numbers. Both players have worn the No. 45 jersey for their entire careers.
@GerritCole45 Hey the number 45 jersey fits really weird and runs really big...not a problem that you will want worry about for 9 years so I’ll take care of it! #Congratsman #letsget28

Clearly Voit has a bit of attachment for the jersey number, however, Cole will now have the cold-hard cash to pay Voit for the number switch if he really wants it. But something tells me that Voit will be willing to part with the number without any compensation.
For Voit and the rest of the Yankees organization, the arrival of Cole is a sign of hope for a team desperate to win another World Series.
The Yankees wanted Gerrit Cole desperately. They loved his intellect, pitching arsenal & thought he would thrive in NYC. They met with him for 4 hours, took him to dinner, had him speak to Hal Steinbrenner on the phone & gave him a record deal. A World Series favorite now?

Whether he's wearing No. 45 on his pinstriped jersey or not, Cole should be a major difference-maker for the Bronx Bombers, as they look to dominate in the 2020s just like they did during the 1920s.
