Luol Deng Signs Contract to Retire as a Chicago Bull After 15 Seasons
By Parker White
After 15 seasons in the NBA, two-time All-Star and Chicago Bulls great Luol Deng has announced his retirement.
Deng signed a ceremonial contract with Chicago to retire as a Bull, freeing him from his Lakers deal (kidding, kidding...).
In 10 seasons with the Bulls, Deng averaged 16.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 46% shooting from the field.
Once Deng left Chicago, he wasn't the same player. The former seventh overall pick out of Duke would end his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Deng was one of the best defensive players in the game during his prime in Chicago, but injuries caught up to him, and over his last five seasons, he played in a total of just 265 games.
For his career he averaged 14.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 45.6% shooting from the field. We're glad he got to retire on his own terms.
