The NCAA has been a controversial governing body for quite some time. The main issue most have with the organization is the way it limits student-athletes from earning money from their likeness, although they recently came around on said issue.
Recently, the NCAA has moved forward on a plan to allow student-athletes to profit off their name and likeness. North Carolina head coach Mack Brown wants the NCAA to go a step further and allow college football players to declare for the NFL Draft whenever they are ready. Support for this idea puts the NCAA in a tough spot.

Such a concept is what the XFL was open to before the league folded. Young stars like Trevor Lawrence could have played professionally and earned millions before gaining the necessary eligibility to enter the NFL. The NFL should not have a problem with the idea, but the NCAA could lose its top football stars and thus a ton of revenue if this plan were in place.

The NCAA losing money is a not a concern to players or fans, but it will be an issue for the organization and more coaches heeding Brown's beliefs will put the governing body in a very difficult situation.
