Madison Bumgarner's Response to Max Muncy is Incredibly Lame But Sadly Makes Sense
By Michael Luciano

San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner had to take a whopping three Ls today. Not only did the Dodgers take down the Giants 1-0 at Oracle Park, but Bumgarner gave up a monster home run to Dodgers slugger Max Muncy. On top of all that, Muncy shredded him with the most savage comeback he could have possibly gone with.
Bumgarner's response to the whole situation makes sense, but he comes off like a crotchety old man despite the fact he's only 29.
Bumgarner: “I can’t even say it with a straight face but the more I think about it, I should just let the kids play. But I just ... I can’t. ... They want to let everybody be themselves, then let me be myself. That’s me.”

His argument is essentially "let every express their emotions, even if their emotions are being whiny, old-fashioned, and petty."
To give Bumgarner some credit, at least his take makes sense. You can be frustrated with giving up a home run, and sometimes you take it out on one of the players. As long as he's not throwing the ball near his head the next time up.
You know what... that’s perfectly reasonable. As long as he isn’t revenge beaning anyone, I’m fine with that. Muncy watches his bomb, MadBum yells, and everyone moves on. #sfgiants

While Muncy came away today the clear winner, Bumgarner didn't come off like a sore loser or someone who will resort to beaning other players, but rather an angry old man upset that these whippersnappers have the audacity to admire a homer for a second or two.
