Malcolm Jenkins Calls Out Young Eagles Cornerbacks After Loss to Vikings
By Karl Rasmussen
The Philadelphia Eagles fell to 3-3 after taking a loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and the main culprit behind the loss was clearly the secondary. Kirk Cousins, who had struggled all season, turned in a career night against the Eagles' defensive backs, as the 31-year-old threw for four touchdowns and 333 yards.
After the game, safety Malcolm Jenkins didn't hold back with his comments regarding the performance of the secondary, calling out the younger members of the group for their lack of confidence.
"This game's not for suckers. If you aren't confident on the outside, then we can't use you," Jenkins said.
Hopefully the defensive backs use this as a wake-up call, considering their lackluster play in 2019. The Eagles have surrendered an average of 280.2 passing yards per game and have allowed 13 passing touchdowns, ranking in both categories as the fifth-worst mark in the NFL.
Clearly frustrations are beginning to boil over, and Jenkins isn't afraid to point the finger at those who have struggled.
It's not as if Jenkins took the blame entirely off himself, as he admitted to having made mistakes in the game, highlighting one Stefon Diggs touchdown in particular.
Still, the Eagles need to see an improvement out of guys like Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas, who both struggled in the loss on Sunday.
The Eagles have a key NFC East clash with the Cowboys next week and are hopeful that the secondary will be up for the task of handling Dak Prescott and Co.
