Marcus Stroman Posts to Twitter to Share Excitement About Joining Mets and Returning Home
By Scott Rogust
The New York Mets shocked the world on Sunday, after they acquired ace pitcher Marcus Stroman from the Toronto Blue Jays. While many believed the Mets would be sellers at the trade deadline, general manager Brodie Van Wagenen bought in big time by acquiring Stroman.
As it turns out, Stroman has some history with the Mets.
After tweeting his farewell to Toronto, Stroman let the New Yorkers who bleed blue and orange know just how excited he was to join the Mets. In fact, he even posted a photo of himself as a young child, wearing Mets apparel.
Truly stuff out of a storybook.
Stroman is a New Yorker, born and bred, as he grew up in Medford, N.Y., located on Long Island.
After pitching at a high level this season, rumors surrounded Stroman as to what lay ahead for him. From the Blue Jays signing him to an extension, to being moved to a playoff contending team like the New York Yankees or Houston Astros.
Instead, he's on his way to join the Mets, a team focused on moving either Noah Syndergaard and/or Zack Wheeler prior to the July 31 trade deadline.
Make no mistake about it, Marcus Stroman is pumped to be a New York Met.
