The New York Mets started this year's MLB trade deadline madness by trading for Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman over the weekend, but the deal wasn't without controversy.
First, many raised an eyebrow as to why the Mets were seemingly making a win-now move when they don't appear to be anywhere near contention. Then came the report that Stroman had an angry outburst when he learned of being traded to Flushing rather than, say, a certain other New York team.
However, the All-Star right-hander refuted the story when being introduced by the team on Monday.
Marcus Stroman on the reports about the clubhouse commotion in Toronto: "I never set my mind to go anywhere ... The commotion was a discussion I had with some of the higher-ups in our org, a exit meeting. I was just voicing my opinion. I didn't like how a few things were handled.

If that was the case, then who can blame him? The Blue Jays have made some questionable moves, especially over the last few years-- most notably keeping Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the minor leagues for way too long in order to take advantage of the MLB's service time rules.
And this will likely be their third straight losing campaign on top of it all.

On the contrary, even Stroman's dad said the right-hander was hoping he'd be traded to the Yankees, so while we'll take the player's word for it, we can totally believe he was mad about being traded to the seemingly always lowly Mets.
Nonetheless, he'll look to help his new team make a run at the NL Wild Card spot over the next couple months.
