Marcus Stroman Shows off Awesome Custom Mets Cleats on Twitter
By Michael Luciano
When you're a new addition in New York, especially when you're a player of Marcus Stroman's caliber, you need to know how to make an entrance.
The newest Met certainly opted for the bold and brash route, breaking out some sick custom blue and orange cleats, one of which has "home is where the heart is." Stroman was born and raised in Medford, NY on Long Island.
Why Stroman's cleats have the No. 6 on the side of them when he opted to wear No. 7 with the Mets remains a mystery.
Before he put up a 2.96 ERA and made the All-Star team with the Toronto Blue Jays, and even before his stardom at Duke, Stroman was a star for the Patchogue-Medford Raiders on Long Island. One of his most famous matchups in high school came against new teammate Steven Matz and the Ward Melville Patriots. Stroman's New York connection runs deep and this post is more than just an attempt to ingratiate himself with the fans.
The Mets had better hope that Stroman can translate his prolific production north of the border closer to home. Brodie van Wagenen's job may just depend on it.
With the trade deadline set to wrap up in less then 24 hours, it'll be interesting to see what other moves are in store for the Mets, but they've already set the market by acquiring Stroman from the Jays.
