Marcus Stroman Shows up to Citi Field in Awesome Throwback Darryl Strawberry Jersey
By Ryan Giglio
For the first time since 2016, though it may feel longer, the New York Mets are playing meaningful baseball past the first month of the season.
With the positive vibes the team has right now, why not bring in mojo from the 1986 team, the last Mets team to win a World Series.
Well, that's exactly what Marcus Stroman did when he arrived to Citi Field for his first start in his new home stadium, showing up wearing a throwback Daryl Strawberry jersey.
If you weren't aware by now, Stroman grew up in Long Island, NY and grew up attending Mets games.
The Mets will be looking to channel the toughness of the '86 team for the rest of this season, starting this weekend against the Washington Nationals. New York has managed to win 14 of its last 16 games and now sees itself only a half game out of a wild card spot.
This series begins a touch stretch for the Mets as they have the sixth toughest schedule remaining in the big leagues. We will find out if they are real contenders in the postseason picture or were fortunate enough to take advantage of a weak schedule after the All-Star Break.
The test begins on Friday as Stroman and the Mets take on Stephen Strasburg and the Nats in the first of a three-game series at Citi Field.
Stroman is doing everything in his power to have Mets fans quickly warm up to him, and his latest apparel choice will do just the trick.
