Marcus Stroman Thanks Toronto on Twitter After Finally Being Traded to Mets
By Scott Rogust
The first big pitching domino of the MLB trade deadline fell on Sunday. Toronto Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman was traded to New York Mets in exchange for pitching prospects Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods-Johnson.
Trade speculation and rumors followed Stroman ever since the MLB All-Star Game, and now, he's officially on his way to the Big Apple.
Before joining his new team, Stroman sent out a short and sweet tweet to the city of Toronto and the passionate Blue Jays fanbase, letting them know he'll always have love for them.
The Blue Jays drafted the right-hander 22nd overall in the 2012 MLB Draft, making him the highest-selected player in the history of Duke University. Two years after being drafted, Stroman made his MLB debut.
In his six seasons with Toronto, Stroman accumulated a 47-45 record, 3.76 ERA, 1.278 WHIP, and 637 strikeouts. Through 21 games this season with the Blue Jays, Stroman posted a career-best 2.96 ERA, which resulted in his trade value skyrocketing.
While the ride is over, Marcus Stroman will never forget the run he had with the Toronto Blue Jays, and wanted to let the fanbase know that they will forever hold a place in his heart.
