VIDEO: Marcus Stroman Uses Last-Second Burst to Beat Youth Baseball Player in Race Around the Bases

If the MLB does not return this summer, it looks like Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman has some hobbies to keep him busy. You might be able to find him at local baseball diamonds racing kids around the bases. Despite giving this youngster a solid headstart, Stroman was able to barely edge him to the plate.

Stroman's speed has never really been tested in the MLB, but now we know that he can move. Now that he's in the NL, we may see him leg out some triples.

Stroman was helping out a youth team in the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday after sending out a tweet offering to aid baseball players of all ages in the area with their fundamentals. He reportedly stayed for the entire 2.5 hour practice, offering advice in every facet of the game.

Stroman talked to the kids about his struggles with height stereotypes throughout his career. He stands 5-7 and is one of the smallest pitchers in the majors. He is only one of six pitchers to start a game in the MLB under 5-10' since 2000.

Whenever the MLB does resume, Stroman will enter his first full season with the Mets after being acquired from the Blue Jays last season. He will be a part of a star-studded pitching rotation that includes Noah Syndergaard and Jacob DeGrom.
