VIDEO: Jarred Kelenic Already Hitting His First Spring Home Run Should Make Mets Fans Cry
By Jerry Trotta

It's fair to say that fans in Queens will never forgive one of general manager Brodie Van Wagenen's first moves as the leader of the New York Mets' front office. The trade that sent the MLB ablaze last offseason saw the Amazins shockingly offload projected star outfielder Jarred Kelenic and right-hander Justin Dunn to Seattle in exchange for a washed up Robinson Cano and former stud reliever Edwin Diaz. Of course, Cano spent most of 2019 on the injured list, and Diaz was among the worst relievers in the league. You would think that things couldn't possibly be worse than last season, right? Well, this Kelenic laser of a home run at Spring Training should make Mets fans think otherwise.

Did Mets aficionados really think that last year was the worst of it? Folks, Cano's suspect health and Diaz's shortcomings were just the first stages of torture. Next, and perhaps even more agonizingly, they will be forced to watch Kelenic blossom into a star with the Mariners.
