VIDEO: Mark Teixeira Says Mets Need to Fire Former Teammate Carlos Beltran Amid Sign-Stealing Scandal

It looks like the bond of being teammates on a World Series winning club doesn't matter much to Mark Teixeira, who isn't shying away from his opinion about Carlos Beltran's involvement in the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal. Tex thinks thinks the New York Mets need to cut ties with their new manager.

On ESPN's "Get Up!", the former New York Yankees slugger decided to chime in on the controversy that has rocked baseball, and particularly the Astros. The MLB already handed down the necessary discipline and reiterated it would NOT be punishing current and former players involved in the scandal, which has proven to be problematic for some fans and media personalities.

Beltran, who was hired as the manager of the Mets this offseason and was a player on the Astros at the time of the scandal, is an especially curious case for obvious reasons. But Teixeira doesn't think it's too complicated. He said the Mets need to fire his former teammate.

That's a tough scene, considering how close the two were back during their days with the Bombers. Teixeira added that this whole situation is a "loophole" for Beltran given he retired after the Astros won the World Series, which probably won't sit well with the current Mets' boss.
