Marlins and Brewers Exchange Shots on Twitter About Christian Yelich During 3-Game Series
By Jared Kish
The Miami Marlins have dominated the Milwaukee Brewers in their current three-game set at Miller Park. The Marlins scored 16 runs in a shutout against the Brew Crew on Tuesday, and Wednesday night beat Milwaukee 8-3.
Well, while things are going well for the Marlins now, their past of trading start talent away came back to bite them. Brewers' Twitter sent out a hilarious appreciation post, thanking Miami for trading them Christian Yelich.
In the bottom half of the first inning against Miami, Yelich launched a rocket off of Marlins southpaw Caleb Smith. The Brewers, who haven't had much to celebrate this week, threw shade in the direction of the NL East team, but probably weren't expecting the savage response from their opponents.
Miami promptly reminded the Brewers of the 16-0 beatdown they were handed Tuesday night, as while the Marlins sit at the cellar of the NL East, they can still light up the scoreboard on any given night.
The elusive 16-run homer the Marlins were asking about would have been clutch for Milwaukee on Wednesday, as that single stroke of the bat could have tied the game up. They could also get the same result by hitting four grand slams, but that would take WAY too long!
Yelich remains on track for another MVP season, having already recording 23 homers on the year. He leads baseball in the category, and he's helped keep the Brew Crew within striking distance of the Cubs.
Even though Miami is the worst team in baseball, it's awesome to see that their social media accounts aren't afraid to dish out some jabs!
